Cookies Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This document sets out the cookies policy of Home Scene Pty Ltd, an Australian company with ABN 18 696 768 019, referred to in this cookies policy as “we”, “us” or “our”.
This cookies policy applies when you access or use our website, platform, content, listings, trade directory, mapping tools, enquiry forms, appraisal request features, quote request features or related online services (Website and Platform).
This cookies policy explains the types of cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.
This cookies policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, our Website Terms and Conditions, our Disclaimer & Complaints page and any other terms, policies or notices that apply to your access to or use of the Website or Platform; however, to the extent of any inconsistency relating to the handling of personal information, the Privacy Policy prevails.
We use cookies, analytics tools, server logs and similar technologies to operate the Website and Platform, remember your preferences, support account and platform security, understand how users interact with the Website and Platform, improve performance, analyse usage, support lead generation, support appraisal requests and quote requests, and support other functions described in this cookies policy.
Cookies and similar technologies may collect information such as your IP address, device information, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, search activity, interaction with listings or trade profiles, referral source, approximate location, usage patterns and other technical or analytics information, which may include personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Some cookies and similar technologies may be placed by us, and some may be placed by third-party providers that help us operate, secure, analyse or improve the Website and Platform, subject to our reasonable measures to select and manage providers consistently with applicable privacy laws.
We may update this cookies policy from time to time by publishing an updated copy on the Website, and material changes will apply from the date they are published unless we state otherwise or applicable law requires a different approach. We encourage you to check the Website regularly to ensure that you are aware of our current cookies policy.
Types of cookies we use
A cookie is a small file that is stored on your computer, mobile phone or other device when you visit a website or use an online platform that uses cookies.
We keep our use of cookies deliberately narrow. The cookies we set are strictly necessary or functional, and our website analytics are cookieless. We do not set advertising cookies, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other websites.
- Strictly necessary cookies
- These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the Website and Platform. Without them, the Website or Platform may not work properly, or certain features may not be accessible to you. We use them to keep you signed in and to validate your session on the server, to support account security, and to give administrators access to internal operational tools. Our payment provider also sets its own cookies on its hosted checkout and billing pages so that payment and subscription functions work.
- Functional cookies and similar technologies
- These help improve your experience and make the Website and Platform more convenient to use. We use browser storage on your device to remember your sign-in session, and to remember settings and one-time notices you have dismissed so that we do not show them again.
- Measurement cookies
- We set short-lived, first-party cookies that record only that a page has already been counted, for example when you view a property listing or an agent or trade profile. They hold no identifier and expire after 30 minutes. Their only purpose is to stop the same visit being counted more than once in the view figures we report to the agent or trade whose listing or profile you viewed.
- Analytics (cookieless)
- We use a privacy-preserving analytics provider to understand how the Website and Platform are used in aggregate: page views, traffic sources, and which features are used. It does not set analytics cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across other websites.
- Content cookies
- Some third-party content is embedded in the Website, including maps and videos hosted by third-party video providers. Embedded videos are not loaded until you choose to play them; if you do, the relevant video provider may set its own cookies and may use them for its own analytics or advertising purposes, in accordance with its own policies.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, behavioural advertising trackers or cross-site tracking technologies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this cookies policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent first.
How long will cookies remain on my device?
The length of time that a cookie or similar technology remains on your computer, mobile phone or other device depends on the type of cookie or technology used. Cookies may be session cookies or persistent cookies.
Session cookies generally remain on your device only while your browser session is active and are usually deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or are deleted, and we will endeavour to ensure cookies used by us have retention periods that are reasonably necessary for their purposes. Our measurement cookies expire after 30 minutes; our sign-in session lasts until it expires or you sign out.
Some third-party cookies or similar technologies may remain on your device for the period set by the relevant third-party provider.
You can delete or manage cookies through your browser or device settings. If you delete, block or disable cookies, some parts of the Website or Platform may not work properly, certain features may not be available, and your experience may be less convenient or personalised.
How do third parties use cookies on the Website?
We use a small number of third-party providers whose technologies operate on the Website and Platform: our hosting and authentication provider, our payment provider, our mapping provider, our cookieless analytics provider, and the video providers behind any embedded video you choose to play. We take reasonable steps to assess whether those technologies are appropriate for the purposes described in this policy.
Third parties may use these technologies to:
- support sign-in, session security, payments, subscription management and mapping functionality;
- help us understand usage patterns, searches, page views, listing views, trade profile views, enquiry activity, performance, errors and user experience in aggregate;
- enable embedded content, maps, video and other interactive features that you choose to load; and
- provide analytics, security, content delivery, hosting, performance or fraud prevention services.
Third-party providers may combine information collected through the Website or Platform with other information they hold about you, in accordance with their own privacy policies, cookie policies and terms, and we are not responsible for those independent practices except to the extent required by applicable law.
We do not control how third-party providers use cookies or similar technologies once they are placed or accessed by those providers, but we will take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and provide information or links where reasonably available. You should review the privacy policies, cookie policies and terms of any relevant third-party providers to understand how they use cookies and similar technologies. Our Privacy Policy names the providers we use and where they are located.
How do I control cookies?
You can usually control and manage cookies through your browser or device settings.
Depending on your browser or device, you may be able to:
- choose whether your browser accepts cookies;
- delete cookies from your browser or device;
- block cookies from particular websites;
- filter or manage cookies by category;
- set your browser to delete cookies at the end of each session; and
- control certain tracking, advertising or privacy settings.
Because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, there is no advertising opt-out for you to set with us. Blocking or disabling cookies altogether will affect features such as signing in, account access, payment functions and embedded maps, and some parts of the Website or Platform may not work properly or may not be available to you.
You should review the privacy policies, cookie policies and settings of your browser, device and any relevant third-party providers for more information about how to control cookies and similar technologies.
